With its gorgeous colors and comfortable weather, it’s no surprise that fall has become the most popular time of year for weddings. Choose a venue that has everything the season has to offer––gorgeous views and colors, indoor and outdoor locations, and some special touches that will wow guests. We’ve rounded up a few of the most stunning fall locations to say I do!
1. Bluemont Vineyard, Bluemont, VA
Located near the border of West Virginia, Bluemont is surrounded by lots of fall foliage, explains Anji and Pete Martin of Potok's World Photography. The main event building, called The Stable, sits halfway up one of the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and boasts a back patio area that looks out over the valley below. Down the hill are groves of trees that make a perfect backdrop for post-ceremony pictures.
2. Whiteface Lodge, Lake Placid, NY
Whiteface Lodge is situated on the mountain side of Lake Placid but offers more than just breathtaking views of the surrounding fall colors. There is a selection of indoor and outdoor spaces, in-house catering, and an onsite wedding coordinator. Guests will also enjoy the resort’s 56-seat movie theater, game room with a two-lane bowling alley, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and hot tubs, and stocked fishing pond with equipment—not to mention complimentary s’mores at the fire pit and bourbon tastings!
3. The Abbey Inn and Spa, Peekskill, NY
This former convent is an ideal fall wedding venue due to its closeness to the Hudson River, one of the most popular destinations for fall because of its majestic foliage. Couples can exchange vows outside and then head to the reception in the Highland Ballroom, which showcases soaring ceilings and stained-glass accents. The Abbey is also home to Apropos, a farm-to-table restaurant.
4. Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards, North Garden, VA
Émilie Dulles of Dulles Designs recommends this location, nestled in the rolling hills of Virginia on a vineyard just outside of Charlottesville. Designed by husband-and-wife team Lynn Easton and Dean Andrews, Pippin Hill gives visitors views of Blue Ridge Mountains. Couples can get married surrounded by fall foliage in the venue’s vineyard or main lawn, and then move the party to one of its indoor spaces. Granary is 3,600 square feet with a two-story vaulted ceiling, while the Veranda gives off a Tuscany or Provence vibe and the Tasting Room is perfect for a more intimate affair.
5. Blackberry Farm, Walland, TN
Foodies will absolutely love Blackberry Farm, says Dulles. The 4,200-acre venue—which has been around for more than 80 years—has all of the charms of Tennessee’s countryside paired with a to-die-for farm-to-table menu. There are activities on-site including fly fishing, hiking, archery, horseback riding, and mountain biking, or simply relax at the spa.
6. Wild Basin Lodge, Allenspark, CO
Situated near Rocky Mountain National Park, the Lodge gives guests all that fall can offer with views of Mt. Meeker, St. Vrain River, and Mt. Copeland. It’s also the perfect locale for eco-friendly couples, according to May Flanagan of Global Green Family, as there is a wedding package that allows a zero-waste option.
7. Beano’s Cabin, Avon, CO
Don’t turn up your nose simply because you hear the word “cabin.” As Michelle Halpern of Live Like it's the Weekend explains, Beano’s “has idyllic mountainside views stretching for miles and a rustic, cozy cabin perfect for hosting weddings of all sizes.” There is a ballroom under the stars with vaulted ceilings, antler chandeliers, and an open fire pit. And even better—the venue is pet-friendly!
8. The Farm, Rome, GA
Nestled in the mountains of northwestern Georgia, The Farm is a family-owned, inclusive venue that boasts breathtaking views. The property itself is spread across 280 acres that feature plenty of trails, ponds, and natural springs to lend to the scenery. There is also a European-style rustic barn and brick accents throughout.
9. The Mohicans Treehouse Resort and Wedding Venue, Glenmont, OH
Surrounded by one of the largest treehouse resorts in the U.S., the wedding venue is a 2,400 square foot open-air facility located on 77 private acres. There are two decks with elevated views of the Mohican Valley and its natural landscape, and each treehouse has its own signature look. The gothic-inspired Little Red Treehouse, for example, has a massive stained-glass window and 30-foot extension bridge, while the Nest features cathedral windows and a massive cedar shingle domed roof.
